What are face masks and why should you use them?

Face masks are concentrated skin care products that come in various forms: sheet masks, clay masks, creams or gels. They are designed to be applied to the face for a certain period of time so that the skin can better absorb the concentrated active ingredients. These active ingredients are usually designed to address specific skin problems, such as: dryness, oiliness, sensitivity, uneven skin tone. Face masks provide more intensive care than regular skin care products, as their active ingredients penetrate deeply and effectively into the skin, creating a barrier. Therefore, face masks are worth using, because the results are more visible due to the higher dose of active ingredients.

When to use face masks?

Face masks should be used after cleansing and toning the skin, but before moisturizing (serums and creams), as dirt and other products can prevent the mask's active ingredients from penetrating the skin. Face masks can be used 1-3 times a week, depending on skin type and the purpose of the mask.

Progress

Cleansing: Thoroughly cleanse your face using a cleanser to remove all dirt, oil, and makeup.

Toning (optional): Using a toner can help balance the pH of your skin and prepare it for the mask.

Mask Usage: Apply the mask evenly to your face, avoiding the eye and lip area unless the mask is suitable for these areas. Leave the mask on for 5-20 minutes or as directed on the product packaging. Then gently rinse the mask off with lukewarm water.

Follow-up care: After washing off the mask, continue with your regular skin care routine, using a facial serum, moisturizer, and eye cream.

Frequency of use

For oily or acne-prone skin, face masks can be used 2-3 times a week to help control sebum production and unclog pores.

For dry or sensitive skin, it is recommended to use masks 1-2 times a week and choose ones with moisturizing or soothing ingredients.

For normal skin, use masks 1-2 times a week to maintain healthy skin.

Sheet face masks

Sheet masks are made from thin sheets of fabric, usually cotton, biocellulose or hydrogel. These fabrics provide moisture control and thus help the product to be distributed evenly. These masks are soaked in highly concentrated serums, which contain vitamins, minerals and other ingredients that help to solve specific skin problems. As a result, sheet masks have a variety of purposes: moisturizing, soothing, brightening and pore-cleansing.
